Cloud and IoT-Driven Irrigation: A Sustainable Answer to Water Management

Conventional means of irrigating crops have resulted in high water usage and have decreased the efficiency of the growth of crops. The study discusses an innovative irrigation system that uses cloud technology and Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology along with embedded systems to provide precise, data-based irrigation management. The findings of their study highlight that sustainable use of water plays an important role in ensuring an adequate food supply; this paper by Haris M Khalid et al., published by Elsevier in the Journal of the Saudi Society for Agricultural Sciences (JSSAS), outlines how digital agriculture could be an important tool for maintaining global food systems.
